Price Range: $200.00 to $309.00

The TU500 is compatible with the Telstra 3.5G network (NEXT G™). This means you can access a wide range of mobile content which includes 12 streaming FOXTEL TV channels, Sensis directory and navigational tools, BigPond content, search engine and much more at super fast speeds (up to 1.8Mbps - similar to that of broadband). This fast data connection can also be used to send and receive data from a PC or notebook using the supplied USB data cable or via Bluetooth.

The camera on the TU500 is a functional but unexciting 1.3-megapixel model. Rather like the plain styling of the phone body, this is entirely suitable for simple shots and video messaging, but not that good for precise photography, and arguably a bit behind the times for a high-end mobile phone.

The menu system prioritises functionality over attractive design and is easy to navigate, using a standard 3 x 3 grid with animated icons. The keypad is one of the best we’ve seen, with large, well-rounded keys and excellent tactile feedback. We had no major complaints with call quality and reception, but one notable quirk was that volume for voice calls wasn’t consistent. During testing, we noticed that callers’ voices would repeatedly fluctuate in volume.

LG’s TU500 boasts super fast multimedia capabilities that allow consumers to access a broad range of content at lightening fast speeds and with just one click of the dedicated Telstra My Place button. It also enables users to send and receive data from a PC or notebook using the supplied USB data cable or via a wireless Bluetooth connection.

Key Features:

MP3 Player
Stereo Bluetooth (A2DP)
microSD external memory
Speakerphone
Dual colour screens
RF car kit
Video calling
Embedded Java technology
