The U880 comes complete with good messaging services which include multimedia messaging service (MMS), enhanced messaging service (EMS), text messaging (SMS) & email. The user can send & receive MMS messages easily on the LG U880 which includes text, sound & photos or images. The user can send MMS messages to any MMS compatible mobile phone. The MMS feature allows the user to send fun & quick messages to friends & family, which keep them all informed of the users whereabouts. The user can send a text message to others with the help of the predictive text input method which makes creating a text message very quick & easy. The user can also stay in touch with other with the use enhanced messaging & email which are both simple to create & send.

The main menu is fairly simply and utlises a 3 x 4 grid system of menu icons. Performance wasn’t an issue and for most part the U880 was responsive and did not lag when quickly scrolling through items. For those of you who are use to shortcuts, you’ll be pleased to hear that the U880 makes use of shortcut menu keys and these are activated using the keypad, with the shortcut number shown next to the menu selection.

For starters the phone has external buttons to control its in-built MP3 player. While the buttons are useful, the phone’s relatively limited 70MB of internal memory mean you’ll either be listening to the same songs over and over again or refreshing them frequently. The U880 can play video in a widescreen format, and includes speakerphone functionality as well as dual external stereo speakers. The phone comes with earbuds, but you can’t plug in your own as the connection is proprietary.
